CAREERS AT CGI

Tips on applying

What should be included in your resume?

A detailed resume outlining your past experience is necessary for applying for positions at CGI. Please ensure that your resume includes the following information: past employers, your roles, scope of responsibilities, examples of projects, etc.

What should be included in your cover letter?

A cover letter should be included with your application, outlining the position you are applying for, your key strengths as they relate to the position, and the reasons why you are the ideal candidate for the position.

How to include your cover letter?

  • If you apply for an individual job posting
    - Copy and paste your cover letter above your pasted text resume
    or
    - Incorporate a cover letter into your Word format resume.
  • If you apply for several jobs
    - Upload a generic cover letter to your candidate's profile.

Why answering screening questions and skills criteria?

When applying for available positions, you will be asked to complete a skills criteria section as well as answer several screening questions. Please ensure that you take the time to complete this section, as it will be used in the evaluation of your application.

How did you hear about CGI?

You will notice that one of the questions we ask on the application form is what led you to this opportunity (Referral).

  • Current CGI Member: existing CGI members are encouraged to apply for posted positions. First consideration is given to those members who are qualified for the job.
  •

  • Employee Referral: CGI encourages its members to help build the company by referring potential candidates to us for certain positions. If CGI hires a candidate referred by a member, the member will receive a referral bonus. The amount of the referral bonus varies by location. Members of CGI management, human resources and recruiting departments are not eligible for referral bonuses. If you have been referred to a position by a CGI member, please remember to complete the referral information at the bottom of your online application form.
  •

  • Advertisement and Publications: it is very difficult to track the impact of advertising. It would help us if you could identify if you heard about this opportunity through a media/advertising initiative.
  •

  • Internet Job Boards: if you see the opportunity on a job board, please indicate which one.
  •

  • Campus Recruiting and Job Fairs: if the position was posted at your school, or you heard about CGI through an on-campus visit, please select university or college marketing. This will allow us to track the impact of our campus programs.
  •

  • Agencies: although CGI has recruiting teams across the organization, we do on occasion request assistance from agencies. If you are an agency representing a candidate, please be advised that we do not accept any unsolicited resumes. When a position is open to agencies, you will receive specific instruction as to how to submit your candidate via the Web site.

What happens once you apply at CGI?

In Canada and the United States, CGI only accepts resumes through our on-line application system at www.cgi.com. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we regret that we will contact only those candidates who have been selected for an interview. In the event that you are not contacted directly, your application will be retained in our searchable database to allow our recruiting team to consider you for future opportunities. If you have not already done so, we invite you to create your personal profile and activate the "CGI notification agent" feature. This will automatically send you an e-mail when new employment opportunities that match your criteria are posted.
